Post House Inn Reviews
July 2009
Dear Barbara, I've been trying all week to sit down to say 'thank you' for our lovely weekend at the Post House. You and Charlie and Baboo are wonderful hosts and made us feel very comfortable in your beautiful B & B. Thanks to Dana, as well, for helping answer so many of my questions! The emails have been flying back and forth between the 'Gilroy Girls' saying how much they enjoyed our special 'reunion'. The Post Host was a perfect setting to renew old friendship and remember the good old days. Thank you so very much! I mistakenly deleted the gift certificate that you made up for Beckie. Would you please resend it to me so that I can forward it on to her. She has been told about your most generous 'gift' and was delighted to be the recipient of it. We hope to be able to set some time aside that we can all visit you again. Have a great summer. Nancy

From the elevated four poster bed piled high with pillows to the marble topped jacuzzi built for two, the room was pleasing to both the eye and the soul. The red theme throughout added to the charm and authenticity of the place. The breakfast was complete - starting with an array of teas and coffee, moving to your choice of juice, milk or ice water, then to a fresh fruit plate, followed by the main entree, and finished off with a rich, moist, dense lemon cake. The hostess appeared briefly to welcome us and jump start the conversation, then left with instructions to just ask if we needed anything. The in-house computer with internet access and the exercise room were also welcome additions.

We did a lot of research to find the perfect place for our Honeymoon. In fact, we almost don't want to share this because it will become so popular that we will have to book way in advance. John & I spent the best 4 nights at the Post House in Mrs. Connell's Boudoir! The room is a two room suite with a marble shower bathroom, two person Jacuzzi & a second bathroom for John. The amazing four poster bed had sheer curtains that we closed & felt like we were the only persons alive. We ordered the Romance Package that includes truffles, roses, and an in room massage-divine. John surprised me by reserving the private dining room for a private candlelight breakfast for two. The menu was fine dining & different from the 9am breakfast with the group of other guests. We lingered for almost 2 hrs. & had a late check-out. We have already booked our first anniversary!

My wife and I planned an anniversary getaway weekend in NOTL. We had never stayed at a B&B and the Post House was our first experience. What a fantastic place! The house is circa 1830's, immaculately kept and beautifully furnished. Staying in the Post Master's Suite, we were transported back in time - gorgeous antique pieces, yet with modern amenities. The main dining room has a walkout to a private garden with patio, swimming pool and hot tub. All nicely designed and well maintained. The innkeeper, Barbara, is a most gracious host and prepared a fabulous full English breakfast. We enjoyed meeting the other guests and had a very nice conversation with a couple visiting from Cleveland. The place is a real gem, located in the heart of NOTL , yet situated a block away from Queen street allowing for privacy. We will definitely be coming back!

We have never stayed at a b&b before and this place exceeded my expectations! Barbara (the owner) was very helpful, we had to re-book the day of our trip due to a blizzard and she was so understanding. When we made it a couple weeks later she helped me surprise my boyfriend for our anniversary. She arranged for a horse drawn carriage to take us to dinner, when we got back to the room she had laid out rose petals, champagne, fruite, flamless candles (heritage homes in niagara on the lake prohibit real ones), the fireplace was on and she had made it look so romantic like I had asked. The next morning she delievered us breakfast in bed, available on request, and it wasquiet good, the pancakes were my favorite. We briefly went down and the other guests seemed to be having a great time. The room was gorgeous with antiques, gold wallpaper, chandelier and fireplace. It had a a speaker system built into the rooms playing acoustic classical music that you could control the volume on. The bathroom was great, we normally find it hard to get a tub that comfortably fits two but this one was huge!
Niagara on the lake is a pretty, charming town, with lots of little shops and restuarants. It reminds me of Victoria B.C. We had lunch at Angels Inn Pub which came recommended by a few people. It was a fun pub atmosphere with good food and local brews. Definetly go to the chocolate shop! We had dinner at Escaebche in the Prince of Wales hotel. It was alot cheaper than I had expected for a nice anniversary dinner for two ( $150 for two steak dinners, two desserts, a botlle of wine and an irish coffee). The waiter was great and it was a romantic, Victorian-era resturant. I was not, however, impressed with the fact that after calling several weeks in advance saying it was an anniversary that we still didnt get a table with a nice view and we were seated next to a couple with a baby.
The next day we spent in Niagara Falls which was cheesy but alot of fun. Theres tons of activites besides looking at the falls, like wax muesums, novelty shops, haunted houses, etc. Be warned: do NOT eat at the Rainforest Cafe unless you have kids who will get a kick out of it or you want to pay for the atmosphere. I went to the one in Vegas as a kid and I loved it so I wanted to try the one in the Falls, big mistake. It wasnt as well done and the food was overpriced and terrible, especially for what you got ( $60 for lunch for two: vegetarian pasta, a burger with fries and two drinks). The MGM shop is a must for movie buffs, we bought so cool posters and glasses.
All in all it was a fun and romantic weekend, we will DEFINETLEY go back to the Post House, I want to try Mrs Connelly's room next!

The Post House Inn is one of the most amazing, romantic and relaxing B&B's ever!!! From the mesmerising piped in music to the whacky and interesting stories from Barbara, the landlady, and everything inbetween, it was a real treat to stay here! The breakfasts are original, the hospitality-second to none and the decor is extremely classy, romantic and immaculate. This was a real treat for us visiting from England and it would make a great place for anyone to get away from it all, but would especially make a special occassion a very grand event. Very highly recommended!! ENJOY!!!
